Older Players Allow Youth Teams to Soar

We have all encountered a 6 ft. 200 lb. 11 year old playing a youth sport and we tell ourselves no way he's 11, sometimes that kid is just naturally big but other times not so much. This is exemplified in the story of Danny Almonte a kid from the Dominican Republic that moved to the states and started to play baseball. He was a star he had a 76 mph fastball which from a major league mound would come in at a modest 103 mph . Danny lead his Bronx team all the way to the Little League World Series in 2001. People questioned Danny's age but for he was born in the Dominican Republic the birth certificate was lost in transition. After their 3rd place finish at the LLWS the allegations came out that Danny was in fact 14 not the 12 year old everyone thought he was. This tainted the teams accomplishment and striped them of their titles. Just goes to show the end never justifies the means, using an illegal player is an advantage for sure but people have ways of finding out and when people do the whole town or team you play for is embarrassed at the expense of having an illegal player to gain a slight edge. To play the game fair and win fair is how it is suppose to be done but people will always try to gain an edge its in our nature. For Danny's team the dream ending never came but they did get one title for the rest of their lives, cheaters.
